STOP TRAINING LIKE YOU'RE 20!
If you're over the age of 40, you can't keep training like you did when you were 20. Your body just won't recover the way it used to, and you're more susceptible to injury. So what's a masters athlete to do? Here are some tips on how to train like a masters athlete in CrossFit.
1. Listen to your body. This is the most important thing you can do as a masters athlete. Your body will tell you what it can and can't handle, so it's important to listen to those cues. If something feels off, don't push through the pain. Take a rest day or modify the workout.
2. Strength train smarter, not harder. You don't need to lift heavy weights all the time to get stronger. In fact, as a masters athlete, you should focus on quality over quantity. Instead of trying to lift the heaviest weights possible, focus on lifting with good form and technique.
3. Prioritize recovery. Recovery is just as important as the actual workout itself. Make sure you're getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, and foam rolling regularly. These things will help your body recover faster and prevent injuries.
